東京大学IR3S兼任教授・大学院工学系研究科教授

1980年に東京大学で博士課程修了後、東北大学、アジア工科大学（タイ王国）および東京大学にて勤務。研究分野は、持続可能な都市域のための統合的な環境管理。
現在の研究テーマは、都市活動に由来する温室効果ガスの排出削減のための統合分析、都市のヒートアイランド現象の緩和、低環境負荷型の廃棄物・廃水管理、都市域におけるクリーン開発メカニズム。

Adjunct Professor at IR3S and Professor at Department of Urban Engineering, the University of Tokyo

After completed doctoral program at the University of Tokyo in 1980, Dr. Hanaki has worked at Tohoku University, Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand) and the University of Tokyo. His research field covers holistic environmental management in urban area for sustainability. Integrated analysis of emission reduction of green house gas from urban activity, mitigation of urban heat island, solid waste and wastewater management for lower environmental loading, clean development mechanism in urban area are his recent research topics.

1950年生まれ。1972年東京大学法学部卒業。法学博士。東京大学新聞研究所教授、同大社会情報研究所所長、同大学院情報学環長・学際情報学府長を経て、2005年から2009年3月まで同大理事・副学長を務める。同年4月より現職。
専門は情報法、情報政策。
主著書は、『メディアの法理』（日本評論社1990）、『情報法』（有斐閣　1993）、 『放送制度論のパラダイム』（共著・東京大学出版会　1994）、『情報学事典』（共編著・弘文堂　2002）など。

President and IR3S Executive Director, The University of Tokyo

Dr. Junichi Hamada became the 29th President of the University of Tokyo on April 1, 2009, after serving in a number of leadership positions, including Dean of the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies and Dean of the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies in 2000-2002, and Managing Director and Executive Vice President of the University of Tokyo in 2005-2009. Dr. Hamada specializes in information law and policy,and received his BA, MA and Ph.D. all from the University of Tokyo in the field of law.

国際自然保護連合（IUCN）生物多様性保全グループディレクター・種のプログラム代表

生物多様性保全グループは、種のプログラム、保護地域プログラム、世界海洋プログラム、侵略的外来種プログラムで構成される。またIUCNコアプログラム（2009-2012）の促進に中心的役割を担う。種のプログラム代表として、スイス、アメリカ合衆国ワシントンDC、イギリスケンブリッジの35人のスタッフと、「IUCN絶滅危惧種レッドリスト」の編集・出版を担当。種の保存委員会フォーカルポイント。植物学を専攻し、植物生態学者としてキャリアをスタート。1989年、Plantlife Internationalを創立し、初代最高責任者となる。1993年ヨーロッパにおける植物保護組織のネットワークであるPlanta Europaを設立。IUCN事務局に加わる以前は、IUCNイギリス委員会の代表を務め、また種の保存委員会植物保護小委員会のメンバーを長期にわたり務めた。国際的な保護活動に対し2003年OBE（大英帝国勲章）を授与された。

Director of IUCN’s Biodiversity Conservation Group and Head of the Species Programme

The Biodiversity Conservation Group comprises the Species Programme, Protected Areas Programme, Global Marine Programme as well as the Invasive Species Initiative. Jane also takes a lead role in facilitating work to implement e the Core Programme Area of IUCN’s Programme (2009-2012). As Head of the Species Programme Jane is responsible for around 35 staff based in Switzerland, Washington DC, US and Cambridge, UK and is responsible for managing the compilation and production of The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(TM). She is focal point for the Species Survival Commission.

Jane trained as a botanist and began her professional life as a plant ecologist. In 1989 Jane founded Plantlife International, becoming its first Chief Executive. In 1993, she initiated Planta Europa, the network of organizations working for plant conservation across Europe. Prior to joining the IUCN secretariat Jane was Chair of the IUCN UK National Committee, as well as a long standing member of the IUCN SSC Plant Conservation Committee. In 2003 she was awarded the OBE for services to international conservation.

アルジェリア国籍。アルジェリア外務省環境担当アドバイザー、アルジェリア首相環境担当アドバイザー、国連環境計画（UNEP）地球環境ファシリティ（GEF）部門ディレクター及びコーディネーターを歴任。2003年より国連環境計画（UNEP）事務局長補佐官をつとめた後、2006年1月より現職。フランス・ナンシー大学より博士号を取得。

Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)

An Algerian national, Dr. Djoghlaf assumed the position of Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in January 2006. He was named to his previous position as Assistant Executive Director of UNEP in 2003, following Director and Coordinator of UNEP's Division of the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Prior to joining the United Nations, Dr. Djoghlaf was advisor on environmental issues to the Prime Minister of Algeria and, prior to that, to Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Algeria. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nancy, France.

The Deputy Executive Director of IR3S, The University of Tokyo; Vice Rector, United Nations University

The Deputy Executive Director of IR3S, The University of Tokyo from 2005 and a professor of Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the University of Tokyo from 1997. Prof. Takeuchi took his posts as Vice-Rector of the United Nations University from July 2008 and as Director of the newly established United Nations University Institute for Sustainability and Peace from January 2009, while keeping his two positions at The University of Tokyo. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Sustainability Science” published by Springer Japan. His specialty is landscape ecology and planning and sustainability science.

Professor, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo

Born in Tokyo, and graduated from the School of Science, The University of Tokyo. She holds PhD in Science from The University of Tokyo. Prior to joining the University of Tokyo in 2000 as a professor, she was a lecturer and an associate professor at Tsukuba University. She is a member of the Science Council of Japan (2005-) and the Central Environmental Council. Her specialty is ecology and conservation ecology (especially on life history evolution of plants, interaction between plants and insects, ecological study for biodiversity and ecosystem restoration). Currently she is working on wide variety of researches related to biodiversity and nature restoration.

環境省参与

1952年東京生まれ。千葉大学園芸学部造園学科に学ぶ。1975年環境庁(現・環境省)に入庁。本省自然環境局や大雪山などの国立公園レンジャー、国土庁、釧路市等を経て、自然環境局野生生物課長(2001-)、自然環境計画課長(2003-)、大臣官房審議官(2005-)、自然環境局長(2008-)を務めた。2009年７月から環境省参与。この間、自然公園法、鳥獣保護法の改正、ＧＭＯに係るカルタヘナ法の制定、ラムサール条約、世界遺産条約、ワシントン条約の履行、トキの野生復帰等に携わる。現在は、2010年10月に愛知県名古屋市で開催される生物多様性条約第１０回締約国会議の準備に参画している。

Senior Councilor to the Ministry of the Environment, Government of Japan
Born in 1952, Tokyo. After graduating from the Faculty of Horticulture, Chiba University, he joined the Environment Agency (currently Ministry of the Environment) in 1975. Prior to assuming his current position as Senior Councilor in July 2009, he has served in a number of high level positions including Director General of the Nature Conservation Bureau (NCB) (2008-), Councilor (2005-), Director of Biodiversity Policy Division (2003-) and Director of Wildlife Division (2001-). He has also previously worked for NCB, Land Agency and Kushiro City, and as ranger for national parks such as Daisetsuzan. He was involved in the amendments of the Natural Park Law and Law for Wildlife and Hunting, establishment of Cartagena Law on GMO, implementation of Ramsar Convention, World Heritage Convention and CITES, and the reintroduction project of Japanese Crested Ibis. Currently he is involved in the preparation for CBD-COP10.

2008年より現職。ブリティッシュ・コロンビア大学東洋学部日本語科卒業。県立宮城大学客員教授、上智大学非常勤講師、全国環境保全型農業推進会議委員（農林水産省）、(社)全国漁港漁場協会理事、（財）地球・人間環境フォーラム客員研究員などもつとめる。日本の農山漁村を中心にフィールド調査の幅広い経験を持ち、日本に関する研究、環境学、環境歴史学を専門としている。著書に、『原日本人挽歌』、『環境歴史学入門』など多数。『カナダの元祖・森人たち』（すべて清水弘文堂書房刊）は「2004年カナダ首相出版賞」を受賞した。

The director of United Nations University ?Institute of Advanced Studies, Operating Unit Ishikawa/Kanazawa from April 2008. Ms. McDonald graduated from the University of British Columbia, majoring in Japanese. She taught at various schools and worked as an associate professor at the International Center of Miyagi University. She has extensive experience in field research in rural and fishing communities in Japan, and her field research includes Japanese Studies, Environmental Studies, and Environmental History with a focus on agricultural and fishing societies. She has received numerous awards for her work, including “2004 Prime Minister of Canada Publishing Award” and is an active member of committees, such as in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, the Global Environmental Forum, and several others.

Born in Hyogo, Japan in 1956. He entered Sumieito-kosan corporation (Currently AMITA Corporation) in April 1979 and assumed the position of president in 1993. Under the flag of “Realization of sustainable society”, his company initiated recycling project ahead of other companies. He launched AMITA Institute for Sustainable Economies in 2005. In 2007, the company opened the “Shinrin no Bokujou (the pasture in forest)”. The company enlarges its business as the total environmental solution company. Mr. Kumano is also a board member of the Global Compact Board Japan, a part-time lecturer at Tohoku University, the chair of Shinrai Shihon Zaidan, and the chair of NPO Earth Designing School.

Executive Director and Professor, Transdisciplinary Initiative for Global Sustainability (TIGS), the University of Tokyo

He graduated and earned M. of Sc. and D. of Sci. from the University of Tokyo. In 1973, he joined the Japan Meteorological Agency, where his research focused on numerical weather prediction. He was also a Research Associate at the Department of Meteorology, University of Hawaii, Associate Professor at the Department of Geophysics, and the Director of CCSR, the University of Tokyo. He assumed his current position in 2005. His specialty is meteorology and climate dynamics. He is a lead author of chapter 8, IPCC WG1.
